Applications to Discuss

  • Decorative wall mirrors in residential and commercial interiors.
  • Mirrors installed over suitably prepared wall panels or tiled surfaces.
  • Vanity mirrors, subject to confirmation of the backing, substrate and moisture conditions.

Check the Mirror Backing and the Wall

Identify the mirror's protective coating and any safety film. Compatibility with ordinary glass does not establish compatibility with a coated mirror back. Confirm the proposed adhesive with the mirror manufacturer and assess representative materials before installation.

Check that paint, plaster, tiles and other surface layers are firmly attached. Adhesive cannot compensate for a loose finish or an unsuitable supporting wall. Do not scrape off mirror coatings or remove a safety film merely to improve adhesion.

General Installation Guide

Follow the instructions supplied with the confirmed product and the mirror manufacturer's fixing requirements.

  • Plan the fixing. Record mirror dimensions and weight, assess the supporting surface and determine the required supports or retainers.
  • Prepare both surfaces. Remove dust and contamination with an approved method. Use cleaners and primers only where compatible with the mirror backing and substrate.
  • Apply the specified bead pattern. Follow the confirmed instructions for bead size, spacing and bond-line thickness. Do not improvise a full-surface coating or closed adhesive ring.
  • Position and support. Align the mirror carefully and provide suitable temporary support. Keep any specified mechanical fixings in place.
  • Allow the required cure. Do not remove support merely because an exposed bead has formed a skin. Complete any perimeter sealing only when permitted by the installation instructions.

Read the actual product's safety information. Use appropriate ventilation, protective equipment and safe glass-handling methods.

Questions before ordering

Can I use ordinary silicone instead?

Do not choose an adhesive solely because it is labelled silicone or neutral cure. Confirm compatibility with the actual mirror backing and suitability for the fixing design.

Is every safety-backed mirror suitable?

No universal compatibility is claimed. Identify the film material and obtain approval for that specific mirror and adhesive combination.

Can the mirror be installed without clips or support?

Do not assume this. Follow the assessed fixing design and product instructions. Initial grab is not proof of full cured load capacity.

Will the adhesive prevent black edges?

This page makes no such guarantee. Mirror-edge deterioration cannot be ruled out by the product name or adhesive chemistry alone.
